The Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS) is an agency of the Federal Government that, among many things, creates and enforces the rules and regulations that medical care providers must follow to continue to offering services to people covered by Federal & State insurance programs, mainly Medicare and Medicaid.  One of the regulations relates to the THPs (called a nurse aide).  Per CMS, under Training and Certification of Nurse Aides for SNF/NFs – 42 CFR §483.35(d), a person can only perform the trained, competency tested activities for four (4) months from the date of hire.  While there was a point in time during the pandemic that THPs could perform duties for longer than four months, as of mid-2022, the four (4) month time limit will be reinstated.
