NH Department of Health & Human Services requires use of the Comprehensive Assessment for Residential Services (CARES) Tool to evaluate potential residents prior to admission to a Residential Care Facility (He-P 804) or Supported Residential Care Facility (He-P 805). All facilities were required to transition to this tool in 2022. All individuals conducting assessments MUST attend a training conducted by an individual who has been trained by DHHS or an approved trainer and the training must be hosted by an approved entity. Individuals who were trained on the previous Resident Assessment Tool (R.A.T.) are deemed “trained” on the CARES tool, but it is highly recommended that these individuals attend a CARES Tool Training Session to refresh their training and learn about the new tool.
Trainings are conducted on the 3rd Tuesday of the month by the NH Health Care Association (January, March, May, July, October, December) and NH Association of Residential Care Homes (February, April, June, August, September, November). Please refer to the specific training date for details.
MAY Training will be IN-PERSON at Rivermead Lifecare Community in Peterborough, NH.
