Hire Temporary Health Partners
Important Information for Providers
The Temporary Health Partner (THP) position has been created as a temporary stopgap to get hands, feet, and hearts on the ground to assist your current team in caring for residents. The THP is a great springboard for LNA candidates to get their feet wet before fully immersing themselves in the LNA training & testing.
Oversight:
The THP will work as a part of the caregiver team, assisting nurses and LNAs in caring for residents.
Scope of Work:
The THP ‘s Scope of Work is limited to tasks for which they have been trained and competency tested to do. A detailed Scope of work, based on the training options can be found here. The scope of work cannot extend beyond the curriculum and demonstrated competencies, however individual employers may choose to pare down the competencies to fit the position.
Limitations of THP:
Per CMS, under Training and Certification of Nurse Aides for SNF/NFs – 42 CFR §483.35(d), a person can only perform the trained, competency tested activities for four (4) months from the date of hire. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this time limitation was waived, but the QSO-22-15-NH & NLTC & LSC issued on April 7, 2022 announces the expiration of those waivers 60 days from the issuance of the memo (June 7, 2022). At that time, and hence forward, individuals will have four (4) months from their date of hire to complete an LNA training course and become licensed as an LNA. If this is not completed in a timely manner, the individual may no longer perform those duties.
Training:
- 8-hour Online training
Includes skills and concepts necessary to care for long-term care residents. - Post-training Testing & Certificate
