This specialized training delivers all the components of a compliant Infection Prevention and Control Program.

The federal regulations require that each facility have an infection prevention and control system that is consistent with national guidelines and standards of practice for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling the spread of infections. The 16-hour NIPP© program addresses the new regulations including how to implement a surveillance system and use surveillance data to drive-decision making, reviews nationally recognized guidelines for when and how isolation precautions should be use for a resident and discusses criteria for decision-making on when to discontinue isolation, provides instruction on how to conduct an infection control risk assessment,  as well as provides information on environmental cleaning and disinfection and key strategies to support antibiotic stewardship.

Facilities are seeing an increase in infection control related citations. CMS has also emphasized the importance of integrating infection prevention with quality assurance activities. This seminar is designed to cover topics that will assist facilities in preventing infections and developing an infection control program that will help facilities meet and maintain regulatory compliance. At the conclusion of this training the participants will be able to design an effective infection control and prevention program.

For those who attended the previous 10-hour NIPP© training, can plan to join day two of the 16-hour program to receive additional education to be compliant with the 16-hour training requirement.

Participants who wish can take an overall examination upon completion of this program. Upon passage of the examination, the participant will receive a certificate for successful completion of infection preventionist training.

Participants will receive training materials that will include an infection control manual. This program is interactive and will include exercises to enhance the learner’s comprehension of the subject matter taught.
